Localities :
An exceptional site :The Pfingstberg slope dominates the pretty little valley in which nestles Orschwihr. Its 28,15 ha of vineyards face south-east, at an altitude of between 250 and 350 metres. The upper part of the Pfingstberg is located on a chalky sandstone andsubstrat micas sandstone substratum (Muschelkalk at the bottom and Bunstandien at the top). A mere clay sandstone texture appears in the lower part. This geological particularity has given rise to 2 distinct names: Pfingstberg and Lippelsberg. Favoured varietals :The Pfingstberg is perfectly suited for Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Tokay Pinot Gris, and even Muscat. Within living memory...The ancient reputation of Pfingstberg dates back to 1299, the date of its donation by the knight Richard d'Epfig to the Unterlinden convent. Typical characteristics :Pfingstberg wines show great typicity, with very floral aromas. Riesling reaches its plenitude after one or two years in bottle. They are wines which age very well.
