Limited to the south by the town of Ribeauvillé, the Geisberg faces due south. Its steep slope necessitates cultivation on terraces, between 250 and 350 metres of altitude, which take advantage of excellent sunshine.
Its subsoil is Triassic, essentially Lower Muschelkalk dolomites and dolomitic marls. At the upper part of the vineyard slope appear the varicoloured sandy marls with gypsum of the Middle Muschelkalk.
The stony, clayey soil is studded with numerous dolomitic fragments.

All 8,53 ha of this site are ideally suited to Riesling.

Geisberg wines have been commercialised since ancient times, but the first written reference to this site dates from 1308, according to the historian Barth,
and it is listed among the original named vineyards catalogued by H. Erhart in his study of the Alsace vineyards published in 1939.

An excellent wine to keep, Riesling Alsace Grand Cru Geisberg in time attains a powerful body, an elegant bouquet, and the celebrated "taste of old Riesling" which is greatly sought-after by connoisseurs.
