To the northeast of Guebwiller, immediately adjacent to the Kitterlé, but separated geologically by a border fracture, the Saering faces southeast to east, at an altitude of from 260 to 300 metres.
Its subsoil, like that of the Grand Cru Spiegel, consists of Tertiary border formations of Eocene and Oligocene ages. It is made up of conglomerates of Buntsandstein : Vosges sandstone pebbles and interspersed layers of marl. Only in the deeper subsoil, and in the eastern reaches some calcareous material appears in places. In general, the soil is a siliceous, rather heavy, sandy marl with abundant rubble.

The very nature of the soil makes Riesling a priority in this vineyard of 26,75 ha. Muscat, Gewurztraminer and Tokay Pinot Gris of very high quality can also be found.

The Saering was mentioned for the first time in 1250. The wines from this vineyard have been sold under their own name since 1830.

Saering Riesling displays a typical floral bouquet with, on the palate, the pronounced fruitiness of the variety, sustained by a dry and distinguished character.
