On the northern outskirts of the village of Rodern, annexing several parcels belonging to the village of Saint-Hippolyte, the vineyard extends over the southeastern slope of the Gloeckelberg, at an altitude between 250 and 360 m. Here we are on the granitic basement of the Vosges mountains : the coarse crystalline potassium-feldspar granite of Thannenkirch. Its acid brown, coarse sandy soil, becomes more or less clayey as weathering progresses. At the top of the hill, Carboniferous shales and sandstones, as well as the Vosges sandstones provide rubble and siliceous scree material on the uppermost steep slope.

The 23,40 ha of vineyard are predominately planted with Tokay Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer.

Mentioned in the Middle Ages, the Gloeckelberg was successively the property of the Convents of Saint Catherine in Colmar and Silo in Selestat.

Alsace Grand Cru Gloeckelberg wines display surprising finesse, lightness and elegance. With a powerful bouquet and great persistence on the palate, they age particularly well.
