The Historian

" Marilegium ", undoubtedly the former villa of Frankish kings, is quoted as from the 6th century.
The Swedes besieged the city during the Thirty Years War.
Bad deal for them, because the inhabitants, after having made them really drunk, knifed them.

The Stroller

Very ancient village, so rich in vestiges and witnesses of all kinds of the past.
Prehistoric vestiges were found : flint, ceramic, lodging of the " Hallstatt ".
Sarcophaguses and Gallo-Roman pottery also.
Picturesque village with its Renaissance houses : the house at number 261, on Général-de-Gaulle's street with its facade with staircase turret and its outside stair.
A former yard " colongère " of the 15th century.
The castle of the 19th century is of neo-classic style.
There are still mills on the river Mossig.
The church Sainte-Richarde of 1716 with its Roman sculptured portal of the 12th century.
The chapel of the 14 Martyrs (or Holy-Cross) of 1772.
The pilgrimage of the Virgo of the Seven Pains with its statues dating from the 18th century. The Way of Cross of 1772 ( from the chapel to the village).
